Kennie Deen, age twenty and unemployed was sentenced to eighteen months imprisonment after being found guilty of Larceny contrary to section 14 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
The accused was sentenced after he made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown.
According to the particulars of offense, it was alleged that the convict on Wednesday 17th April 2024 at Guard Street Market in Freetown Stole from person Akim Tejan Gibril the sum of five thousand New Leones (NLe5,000) property of the said complainant Akim Tejan Gibril.
The convict made no plea after the charge was read and explained to him.
The prosecutor Sergeant 8811 Florence M Wilson lead three witnesses including the complainant.
After the file was withdrawn for ruling, Magistrate Bangura in delivering his Ruling said he has seen the assertion by the complainant in his evidence in chief before the court, while he was cutting cow meat. The accused took from his pocket a plastic bag containing money and went away which was also confirmed by prosecution witness number two and he has also seen the accused admitting to the allegations in his caution statement to the police.
Magistrate Bangura said the evidence is sufficient to sentence the accused person, he therefore sentenced him to eighteen months imprisonment to the male correctional facility in Freetown.
