Twenty-seven-year-old Emmanuel Saffa Mason appeared before Magistrate Josephine Feimata Hinga to face a charge of larceny, contrary to Freetown Section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Monday, 17th February 2025, at Regent Road, Lumley, in the western area of Freetown, Saffa stole an Infinix Smart 7 mobile phone, valued at two million five hundred thousand Leones (2,500,000), belonging to Gbassay Sheriff Mambu.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, Saffa pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, Sergeant 9906 Umu Jalloh, informed the court that the accused had no prior criminal record. Though unrepresented by legal counsel, Saffa pleaded with the Magistrate to show mercy.
In response to the plea for mitigation, Magistrate Hinga sentenced Saffa to twenty-four months’ imprisonment at the female correctional facility in Freetown.
