A young man has been reportedly stabbed to death following a violent confrontation between two neighboring communities in Susan’s Bay, eastern Freetown, in what residents describe as another troubling incident amid rising cases of violent killings in the capital.
According to family members of the deceased, the incident began as a minor disagreement between individuals from the two neighborhoods. They said the situation initially appeared to be under control and did not suggest it would escalate into violence.
However, the family alleged that the disagreement later took a deadly turn when the son of one of the parties involved returned with a group of young men and launched a brutal attack on the victim.
Eyewitnesses reported that the group of angry youths, allegedly mobilized by the said individual, assaulted the young man using sticks, stones, and sharp objects. Residents said the victim sustained severe injuries during the attack.
The eyewitnesses further reported that efforts were made to rush the victim to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead before receiving medical treatment.
Following the incident, residents said the individuals accused of orchestrating and carrying out the attack fled the area immediately. As of the time of filing this report, none of the suspects had been arrested.
Community members in Susan’s Bay expressed fear and concern over the growing wave of violence, calling for swift action by law enforcement authorities to investigate the killing and bring those responsible to justice.
