The Minister for the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, David Monina Sengeh has met with the Leadership of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) on a working relationship.
The discussion is geared towards strategies on how the MBSSE and SLAJ can work together in transforming education in Sierra Leone based on a structural and potential signing of a memorandum of understanding between the two.
Minister Sengeh in his statement to the Press mentioned that the media plays a major role in ensuring that education is transformed in societies respectively.
‘’ Critical to education transformation in any society is an independent media’’ he maintained.
The President of SLAJ, Ahmed Sahid Nasralla and the team welcomed and appreciated the minister and team with open hands as well as confirmed their readiness to work with the ministry in the best interest of the general public.
‘’ Good that public officials are beginning to realise that the media is more than just a tool for information dissemination. We can walk and work with you in the public’s interest’’. He ascertained.
The SLAJ executive further made mentioned having representation in the Ministry’s Local Education Group (LEG).
