The newborn baby who was stolen from the Port Loko Government Hospital three weeks ago has been safely recovered and reunited with her mother, bringing a joyful end to a distressing ordeal.
The baby, who was only six days old at the time of disappearance, went missing under mysterious circumstances on the 21st April, 2025, sparking widespread concern across the district. “The case was diligently pursued” said by Chief Inspector Paul Hassan Turay, Media Officer for the Northwest Region.
Chief Inspector Turay revealed that the suspect, Zainab Kamara, was tracked down after investigators traced a mobile phone left behind at the hospital on the day of the incident. During questioning, Zainab confessed to intentionally going to the hospital around 5 a.m. to steal a baby.
After three weeks of investigation, the baby was located and found to be good. The tween baby was immediately reunited with her mother, who expressed immense relief and gratitude.
Hospital staff and community leaders have also shared their happiness over the successful outcome.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing and have pledged to proceed with pursuing the matter to prevent future occurrences of child theft.
Kudos to the police for this remarkable work.
