The Ministry of Technical and Higher Education (MTHE), in collaboration with WanGov and Korlie Limited, has announced plans to introduce an online payment platform for students in Sierra Leone’s higher education institutions.
The new system aims to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accountability in the payment of tuition and related fees. Once launched, students, parents, and sponsors will be able to make payments online through multiple channels, including Orange Money, bank transfers, Vult, and Visa.

MTHE stated that the platform will integrate with university databases and the national ID system to ensure accurate financial records. The initiative aligns with President Julius Maada Bio’s “Big Five Game Changers,” particularly his commitment to digitization and transparency.
Dr. Haja Ramatulai Wurie, Minister of Technical and Higher Education, said the initiative will strengthen trust between students and institutions, noting that every transaction will be traceable under the new system.
Edward Sannoh, Head of ICT at MTHE, added that the Ministry has engaged stakeholders, conducted system assessments, and presented the platform to ensure a smooth rollout.
Korlie Limited’s Tech Lead, Mr. Dugba Kenneh, explained the platform’s features and underscored the need for consistent pricing structures across institutions to facilitate seamless operations. He also confirmed that the system will allow real-time monitoring and analysis at the ministry level.
The official launch of the platform is scheduled for the start of the next academic year, following further consultations.
