The alleged murderer of a recently dead prison officer, Isha Saidu Hughes, has been denied bail and sent to Pademba Road Prison.

The 58-year-old Sulaiman Conteh made his first encounter before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Ross Road Court No.1 in Freetown on a count of Murder unorthodox to section 1 of the offenses against the individual Act 1861 as repealed and replaced by Section 1 (a) of the schedule of the abolition of the Death penalty Act 2002 Act No.6 of 2002.

The details of the offense showed that on Friday 14th July 2023 at No.6A Savage Street Wellington, in the Western Area Urban of Freetown murdered Isha Saidu Hughes.

Sulaiman Conteh appeared in court wearing a white morning gown, seeing him, the Prison officers and others were in tears.

The accused person was not legally represented and the witnesses to the matter were presented.

The matter could not proceed due to the time and the emotional situation of the court, Magistrate Kekura refused bail and sent the accused person to the male correctional center in Freetown. 

Matter was adjourned to the 18th August 2023 for further hearing.
