Sierra Tropical Limited has injected a 42 million dollars Pineapple processing factory facility in Sumbuya Lugbu, Bo District, the southern area of Sierra Leone.
The company has 1300 hectares of pineapples farm in which 1200 Sierra Leoneans are already employed and after one year in operation the company will employ over 10, 000 thousand Sierra Leoneans.
The processing factory will produce pineapple juice concentrate and cut products which will be exported to Europe, America, Africa and Asia.
According to the General Manager, Patrick Blake, the produce will be packaged in the country and done fully with added value bearing the name as a product of Sierra Leone.

Sierra Tropical Limited was established by Japan’s Itochu corporation, which acquired holdings of Dole Foods, one of the world’s oldest commercial growers of tropical fruits, especially pineapple.
The company first came in 2014 when they were scouting for the plantation site in the country.
