A tragic accident occurred on Thursday evening along Blama Road in Kenema City, resulting in the death of one person and leaving several others injured after a large roadside tree collapsed onto a moving commercial motorbike.
Eyewitnesses at the scene said the motorbike, popularly known as an okada, was conveying passengers when the tree suddenly fell without warning, crushing the bike and its occupants. A female passenger reportedly died instantly from the impact, while other passengers and the rider sustained varying degrees of injuries.
The injured victims were swiftly rushed to a nearby medical facility, where they are currently receiving treatment. Medical sources confirmed that some of the victims are responding positively to treatment, while others remain under close observation.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the Kenema community, with residents expressing deep sorrow and raising concerns about safety along major roads in the city. Several locals blamed weak and aging roadside trees, particularly during the rainy season when strong winds and heavy rainfall increase the risk of collapse.
