Orange Foundation and UBA Foundation have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), establishing a strategic partnership aimed at delivering sustainable, people-centered development initiatives across Sierra Leone.
The signing ceremony brought together leaders from the private sector and government, highlighting the growing importance of cross-sector collaboration in national development.
Speaking at the event, Madam Aïcha Touré, Chief Executive Officer of Orange Sierra Leone, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to improving the lives of Sierra Leoneans. She noted that the partnership aligns with Orange Foundation’s mission to support impactful social investments, particularly in the health sector. As the first flagship project under the collaboration, the York Peripheral Health Unit (PHU) will be renovated to enhance access to quality healthcare services for local communities.
Mr. Mohamed Alhajie Samoura, Chief Executive Officer of UBA Sierra Leone, emphasized the bank’s history of supporting development-focused initiatives. He said the collaboration with Orange Foundation would amplify efforts in critical sectors such as health and social welfare, delivering meaningful and sustainable community impact.

Delivering the keynote address, Minister of Health Dr. Austin Demby stressed the importance of partnerships between government and the private sector in improving maternal and child health outcomes. He pledged the Ministry’s full support to ensure the partnership achieves measurable and lasting results. “The preservation of maternal health requires collective action,” Dr. Demby said, adding that the York PHU renovation will significantly improve healthcare delivery at the community level.
The event concluded with the formal signing of the MoU by representatives of Orange Foundation and UBA Foundation, officially endorsed by the Minister of Health. With the shared vision captured in the message, “A healthy child, a happy mother – a progressive community,” the partnership sets the stage for impactful interventions aimed at building a healthier and stronger Sierra Leone.
