Orange Sierra Leone has announced the appointment of Madam Aïcha Touré as its new Chief Executive Officer, marking the start of a new leadership phase for the telecommunications company.

The announcement was made by Orange Sierra Leone in an official communication, which stated that Madam Touré officially assumed office following a handover from the outgoing CEO, Mr. Sekou Amadou Bah.

As part of the transition, Mr. Bah conducted a guided tour for the new CEO across key company facilities, including the Orange Digital Center, technical departments, and several operational units, where she met with staff members.

According to the company, Madam Touré was formally received at the headquarters with a bouquet of flowers, a gesture Orange Sierra Leone said symbolised unity, growth, appreciation and new beginnings.

Madam Touré brings more than 12 years of professional experience spanning the telecommunications, technology and financial services sectors.

Orange Sierra Leone noted that she joined the Orange Group in 2017 as Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer at Orange Mali, where she led several major projects. These included the rollout of 4G services, the expansion of fibre infrastructure and initiatives aimed at improving access to energy.

In 2019, she was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Orange Money Mali. During her tenure, the company said she led the mobile financial services arm to become the national leader in financial inclusion.

Orange Sierra Leone further disclosed that Madam Touré holds a master’s degree in engineering from CentraleSupélec and an Executive MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where she was a Sloan Fellow.

The company described her as a leader with a strong interest in using digital innovation to promote inclusive growth and economic empowerment across Africa.

The company also used the occasion to pay tribute to the outgoing CEO, Mr. Sekou Amadou Bah. In its statement, Orange Sierra Leone expressed gratitude for his leadership, noting that under his tenure the company achieved significant progress in infrastructure expansion, customer experience and digital empowerment.

Orange Sierra Leone said it is looking to the future with renewed focus and confidence, expressing optimism that the company will enter a new phase of growth and innovation under Madam Touré’s leadership.

The appointment takes immediate effect, according to the company.
