Abdul Milton Mustapha, a 30-year-old fuel supply supervisor at the Kenema branch of Pavi Fort Construction Company, has been remanded at the Kenema Male Correctional Centre following his first court appearance on Monday, May 5, 2025.
Mustapha, a resident of Heigbema Layout in Kenema City, appeared before Magistrate Brima Jah in Magistrate Court No.1 to answer to a single count of embezzlement, contrary to Section 17(1)(b) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to court documents, between March 25 and April 6, 2025, Mustapha allegedly misappropriated 2,833 litres of diesel, valued at NLe 77,624, which he received on behalf of the company for distribution to equipment operators and drivers. It is alleged that he fraudulently converted the fuel for his personal use.
Defense counsel Simeon Goba Esq. applied for bail, arguing that the accused is a first-time offender, a father, and a family man who poses no flight risk and is willing to cooperate fully with court proceedings. However, the presiding magistrate denied the application and ordered Mustapha to be remanded, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation and the matter was adjourned for further hearing.
The complaint was filed by Mamadu Alie Jalloh, 38, an engineer and the Project Manager at Pavi Fort’s Kenema branch, who took legal action on behalf of the company.
Inspector Samuel Musa of the Justice and Legal Department of the Kenema Police Division is prosecuting the case.
