Kadijatu Wai, a petty trader has been sentenced to two years jail imprisonment or to pay a fine of NLe3000, after she appeared before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of the Ross Road Magistrate Court No. 1 on Monday 6th January 2023.
She is before the court on a three-count charge of obtaining money by pretense contrary to the laws of Sierra Leone and two other related offenses.
It was alleged that on the 31st of October 2022, the accused Kadijatu Wai obtained the sum of Fifty Thousand Leones (NLe50,000) from one Aminata Bayor with the pretext of having cartoons of fish for sale knowing to be false.
After the charges were read and explained to the accused Kadijatu Wai, she pleaded guilty to count one and denied counts two and three.
