The Criminal Investigations Department of the Mile 91 Police Station has on diverse dates between 13th and 29th May 2024 arrested four people in that town for allegedly breaking into a shop and stole therein properties worth millions of Leones.

The four suspects are Ibrahim Bundu, Mohamed Turay, Alie Koroma and Samuel Bangura. The four men and others on the run allegedly break into the shop of one Abass Mohamed Fofanah around the Mile 91 town main junction and stole therein one Tecno Pop 7, one itel 70, a pen drive, solar battery and other valuable properties totalling to forty three million, one hundred forty thousand New Leones.

Alpha Turay, the fifth suspect, was arrested for receiving some of the stolen phones. The report says some of the stolen phones were found in possession of Turay. During interrogation, Turay confessed that he bought the phones from one of the suspects.

According to the investigation, the suspects broke into the shop around 2 Am and carted away the assorted phones. Fofanah, the shop owner learnt about the incident in the morning and he reported the matter to the Mile 91 Police Station.

Based on intelligence, the police were able to identify the key suspects linked to the allegation. Arrests were made and upon investigation, the other men were also brought to book by the Sierra Leone Police.

During interrogation, the investigating police officers said the men admitted to having sold the phones to people outside the town.

Having concluded investigations, the four men have been charged to Court on three counts each. They were charged with Conspiracy, Shop Breaking and Larceny.

For the fifth suspect, he would be charged with the offense of Receiving stolen properties.

On Wednesday, 5th June 2024, the five suspects were transported from the Mile 91 Police Station to Magburaka where they would appear before the Tonkolili District resident Magistrate.

The move to charge the five men was widely acclaimed by the majority of the residents in Mile 91 town. This is because there has been an increase in robbery activities in the town of recent. Recently, some members of a criminal gang in the town were arrested with guns after a fuel station in the town was robbed.
