In a major breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, the Calaba Town Police Division has arrested a suspect with a large quantity of suspected synthetic drugs, underscoring their commitment to combating drug abuse in the community.
Acting on credible intelligence, the Officer Commanding Calaba Town Police Station, ASP Saccoh Kabbie Kharr, led a targeted raid at Faynkray Street, Calaba Town, resulting in the arrest of Osman Kamara, a resident of Osman Lane in the same community.
During the operation, police recovered 628 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Kush, a synthetic drug that has become a growing concern among youths in Sierra Leone.

The suspect, along with the seized exhibits, is currently in police custody as investigations continue. Authorities say the operation is part of a broader strategy to intensify the crackdown on drug trafficking and related crimes in Freetown.
Speaking on the operation, ASP Kharr emphasized the police’s ongoing commitment to community safety:
“This arrest sends a strong message to drug peddlers that the Sierra Leone Police will not relent in its efforts to protect our youth and maintain law and order.”
The seizure is the latest in a series of successful anti-drug operations in Calaba Town, reflecting the growing determination of law enforcement to curb the menace of synthetic drugs across the country.
Residents have welcomed the arrest, praising the police for their proactive approach in tackling narcotics and safeguarding the community.
