The Sierra Leone Police have commenced a two-day Conflict Prevention Training for its personnel and other Security Apparatus in the Eastern Region on the 3rd of April 2023 at the Kenema City Hall in Kenema.

The training attracted participants from major security arrangements and sectors and looked at causes of Election Violence, Conflict Monitoring and Mitigation, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Community Oriented policing, and many more that are connected to ensuring peace and stability ahead of the June 2023 elections.

The Chief of staff, Office of the National Security (ONS), Langoba Kelie called on the participants to take the training seriously, as it will help ensure security services that would be of crucial to not only the Eastern Region but the nation at large.

He added that the participants should not keep the knowledge that would be gaining in the course of the training personally but for them to disseminate it to other security members and use that expertise for the betterment of national development and peaceful cohesion.

In his statement, the Regional Police Commander East, Andrew Mustapha Kamara implored all present to use the knowledge for the best interest of their different security sectors as well as the nation to maintain and ensure a stable peace before, during, and after the elections.

He noted that the actions and inactions of securities in elections tend to drag their credibility and reputation in disrepute for which he was craving the indulgence of all and sundry to concentrate, and actively participate in the training not only for themselves.

He further advised them to the digest the full content and understand how to exhibit them when it comes to their job dispensation.
