Two persons have been arrested by Kissy Division police for allegedly stealing cables from an Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) transformer.
The suspects, 23-year-old Mohamed Jalloh of Magnus Street, Wellington, and 24-year-old Mohamed Kamara of Long Bench, Calaba Town, were apprehended near the ECSL warehouse at the Wellington industrial estate on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
The alleged theft caused a large explosion and subsequent power outages in the area. Police, under the leadership of LUC Bob Musa Mansaray, reaffirmed their commitment to protecting government property and prosecuting those who damage state assets.
An angry mob from the Wellington community attempted to intervene before police arrived, but officers from the Kissy Division’s Operations Team were able to take the suspects into custody.
The Kissy Division Information Officer, Johnny Paul, released the information about the arrest.
