The Sierra Leone Police carried out a demolition exercise on Sunday, June 8, clearing several illegal structures in a bid to enforce the right of way at Spur Loop in Freetown.

The exercise, led by Assistant Inspector-General of Police Sylvester Koroma, was successful. Police said that they conducted an enforcement operation to remove unauthorised structures from the right of way at the Spur Loop area of Freetown. They added that the initiative aims to enhance safety and improve community accessibility at Spur Loop and its environs.

Police reported that the exercise was a joint operation with officers from the Sierra Leone Police (SLP), the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other security agencies collaborating to promote discipline, enhance road safety, and maintain order in not only Freetown but the Western Area region.

With security provided by general duty and Operations Support Division (OSD) officers, the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), under the supervision of Engineer Scott, demolished makeshift structures, kiosks, and containers obstructing the roadway. The area includes key diplomatic locations such as the Chinese and French Embassies.
