The Family Support Unit (FSU) of the Sierra Leone Police has embarked on a comprehensive sensitization campaign targeting schools in Kabala and its surrounding areas.
This initiative aims to raise awareness about the newly enacted Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2024.
Today’s activities included outreach sessions at several educational institutions, including Kabala Secondary School (KSS), Bintumani Preparatory School, Ansarul Islamic Secondary School, and Ahmadiyya Primary School.
During the sessions, officers addressed students about the key provisions of the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act 2024, which prohibits consent to child marriage and makes it illegal to officiate, promote, or aid and abet in child marriages. Pupils were encouraged to stand against all forms of child marriage and to use appropriate channels to report any violations of their rights, emphasizing the importance of education in paving the way for future leaders at both national and international levels.
The campaign reflects the Sierra Leone Police’s commitment to protecting children’s rights and fostering a brighter future for the nation’s youth.
