The Kenema Police Division has On Sunday, December 10th, 2023, honoured 20 police officers in the east with certificate from the NEXGEN international police gallantry.
The ceremony, attended by senior police officials, local dignitaries, and community members, commenced with a speech honoring the exceptional achievements of the twenty officers. Each officer was called upon the stage, where they received their well-deserved NEXGEN International Police Gallantry Award, recognizing their exceptional contributions to law enforcement.
Delivering his statement, the initiator of the entire program, Dr. Chinedu N. Samuel, revealed that the NEXGEN International Police Gallantry Award is a symbol of recognition reserved for those who exemplify extraordinary bravery, dedication, and professionalism in the line of duty. He noted that with its rich history in Nigeria, the award represents the pinnacle of achievement within the law enforcement community, and therefore, as a police friend, he thought it fit to roll out the same to Sierra Leone, Starting with Kemema.
Dr. Chinedu talks about the risks police officers nomally faced in maintaining law and order, and also their unwavering commitment to protecting and serving their community. He noted that awarding them would garner the attention and admiration of their peers and superiors alike.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mr. Brima Kamara, spoke on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, expressing their gratitude and admiration for the twenty officers. He highlighted the selflessness and dedication that were always displayed by police officers, and emphasized on how the good actions of each of the awardees, would inspire others to uphold the principles of justice and security.
The Police Spokesman noted that it was with great pride and appreciation that he, on behalf of the IGP, honored the twenty outstanding awarding officers. He stated that their unwavering courage and commitment to duty would be an inspiration to all, adding that they have demonstrated that protecting and serving the community is not just a job but a calling they took to heart.
The Regional Police (RegPol) Commander, East- Commissioner Andrew M. Kamara, expressed gratitude to Dr. Chinedu N. Samuel, and revealed that the award would make a difference in the lives of others.
He acknowledged the importance of teamwork within the police force and praised his commanders officers for their unwavering support and camaraderie. The police boss noted that to whom much is given is expected.
As the ceremony concluded, the twenty honored officers emerged as shining examples of courage and integrity, inspiring others to follow in their footsteps.
