The Premier League Board (PLB) has issued an official statement addressing recent developments involving the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), following the detention of SLFA President Thomas Daddy Brima, Acting Secretary General Mohamed Benson Bawoh, and Finance Officer Ibrahim Bah by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
In the statement released Thursday, the PLB expressed solidarity with the SLFA leadership, while voicing hope for a swift and transparent investigation that could lead to a resolution of the case and the possible release of the detained officials.
“We stand in solidarity with the football leadership during this period,” the PLB stated, “and remain hopeful for a swift and transparent investigation.”
The Board also responded to growing discussions on social media regarding the status of the ongoing Leone Rock Premier League, particularly concerns raised by some stakeholders about whether the league should be suspended due to the current controversy.
Acknowledging these concerns, the PLB urged all parties to act responsibly and prioritize the interest of the game. The Board clarified that the ongoing investigation will not disrupt league activities.
“The ongoing investigations involving SLFA officials will not impact the operations of the league,” the statement emphasized. “As such, the Leone Rock Premier League will continue as scheduled across the country.”
The PLB reaffirmed its commitment to the smooth, professional, and uninterrupted continuation of the league and called on clubs, players, officials, and stakeholders to remain focused on football while legal proceedings unfold.
All what l want is that, let the government of Sierra Leone stay away from football, that is why the football federation is there to make sure everything go smoothly, if there’s any corruption in the game of football report it to (FIFA)they will handle it.
