Pujehun District Council Chief Administrator, Sahr Emmanuel Yambasu, has urged residents to prioritize their tax obligations, highlighting their crucial role in funding the council’s development initiatives.

Yambasu emphasized the importance of tax revenue in achieving tangible progress within the district. He acknowledged past challenges caused by delayed government subventions and expressed his determination to lessen the council’s reliance on external funding sources.

“Without the financial contributions of the people, progress in the district will remain elusive,” Yambasu stated. He assured the community that prompt payment of property taxes, market dues, and other levies would empower the council to undertake development projects independently.

Yambasu echoed the slogan “Put your mouth where your money is,” underscoring the council’s commitment to utilizing locally generated revenue for development projects. He emphasized the significance of community involvement, stating that residents’ active participation and financial contributions were paramount for the council’s success in implementing impactful changes.

To facilitate tax collection, the council has begun issuing demand notices to residents, focusing on property taxes, market dues, and other revenue streams. By streamlining the process and encouraging prompt payment, the council aims to strengthen its financial resources and accelerate progress within the district.

Yambasu reiterated the council’s commitment to using locally generated revenue for the community’s benefit. He urged residents to fulfill their tax obligations, emphasizing that doing so would grant them a vested interest in the council’s development projects, ensuring their effective implementation and monitoring.
