A village in Sierra Leone has been shaken by witchcraft accusations after a young girl suffered paralysis of her two feet and her right hand.

The girl, a class 6 pupil at the Regina Cole Primary School in Torijehun Village, located along Newton-Fogbo Road in Waterloo, is alleged to have been pushed inside a deep pit by eight of her classmates after she disagreed with them over a witchcraft expedition.

The police in Newton (4 Mile) Police Post, Waterloo Division, have solicited the assistance of the Sierra Leone Traditional Healers’ Union to investigate the matter.

The nine alleged witches, comprising eight women and one man, including the victim, have been handed over to Sallieu Salia Bah, the Head Man of Torijehun Village.

The victim, who is currently chair-bound, has been issued a police medical form for examination and treatment at the Rokupa Government Hospital.
