Sierra Leone’s Security Forces have arrested more than 100 Sierra Leoneans and foreigners in a neighbourhood in Makeni, Northeast Region.
The Sierra Leoneans and foreign nationals, encompassing, Guineans, Malians, Liberians, and Ivorians, were arrested for unlawful assembly, conspiracy and illegal businesses.
Speaking to SLBC, the AIG, Northeast Region, Sahr Yumba Senesie, said that the arrests came about after they received intelligence from residents in the neighbourhood where the suspects were housed.
He revealed that about 70 were housed in one building, while the other 40 ones are were in another structure in the same neighborhood.
The Police Regional Commander said that the neignours became suspicious about the presence of these strange groups in their community, who are mainly foreign nationals.
He disclosed that 67 of them are Guineans, 6 Liberians, 3 Malians, 11 Ivorians, and 14 Sierra Leoneans, adding that 15 females are part of them.
Even though, the AIG did not comment more on the police investigation, he however revealed that investigation is pointing at QNET online business, which does not conform to legal operation.
