A 26-year-old security guard, Sampha Koroma, has been remanded to the male correctional facility after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Brima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on a charge of larceny by a servant.
Koroma is accused of stealing property belonging to his employer, Mohamed Kamara, contrary to Section 17(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the prosecution, the alleged offence occurred on April 28, 2026, along Wilkinson Road in Freetown, where Koroma was employed as a security guard. Prosecutors allege that he stole a generator battery, iron props and 30 pieces of plywood, with the total value of the items estimated at Le145,500.
As the matter is before the court by way of preliminary investigation, no plea was taken from the accused during his first appearance.
Prosecutor Inspector Kadie M. Taylor informed the court that the defendant had been served with the case file and the preliminary investigation documents, which he acknowledged receiving.
Magistrate Jah refused the accused’s application for bail, citing the seriousness of the allegation, and ordered that he be remanded in custody pending further proceedings.
The case has been adjourned to July 10, 2026, for continuation of the preliminary investigation.
