Justice Alfred Tommy Ganda, the Resident High Court Judge in Kenema District has sentenced 25-year-old Daniel Mamoud to 15 years imprisonment for sexual penetration.
Mamoud appeared before Justice Ganda, at the High Court in Kenema for a single-count charge, of sexual penetration contrary to section 19 of the sexual offences Act of 2012 as repealed and replace by section 4 (a) (iii) of the sexual offences Amendment Act number 8 of 2019.
According to the police Mamoud sexually penetrated a 9-year-old girl in October 4 2020 in Kenema.
During the course of the trial, the prosecution led three witnesses in evidence and relied on a medical report which was tendered in court.
Meanwhile, the defence lawyer, Patrick Kamara led two witnesses in evidence including Mamoud and another witness but was unable to convince the judge of his client’s innocence.
