Six men accused of breaking into two homes in Bo and stealing electronics and household goods have been remanded at the Male Correctional Centre after making their first court appearance before the Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown.

The accused Gbessay Swaray, Foday Sallu, Martin Sallu, Joseph Gekamjie Kamara alias Shine, John Bangalie alias Boika, and Foday Hassan appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah on Monday to answer to multiple counts of conspiracy, burglary, larceny, and receiving stolen property. No plea was taken, as the matter is at the preliminary investigation stage.

According to police, the men allegedly conspired with unknown individuals on 28 August 2025 to break into the residences of Kaiker Koker and Lucy Koker at Hancil Road in Bo, carting away a range of valuable properties.

Police reports state that the first five accused broke into Kaiker Koker’s home and stole a 65-inch LG smart television valued at Le24,000; a 55-inch LG smart television valued at Le12,000; a projector worth Le19,200; two solar LED lights valued at Le3,600; and a Lenovo laptop valued at Le12,000. The total value of the stolen properties from this residence is estimated at Le70,800.

The same group is further accused of breaking into the home of Lucy Koker and stealing additional items, including a Lenovo laptop valued at Le2,450; a sealed blender carton worth Le18,000; a six-set carton of high-quality dishes valued at Le7,000; three cartons of assorted dishes valued at Le15,000; an extension cable worth Le500; a Bluetooth speaker valued at Le2,450; and an iPad valued at Le2,450. Police put the total value of these stolen properties at Le63,150.

Police also allege that on 6 September 2025, at Banga Farm in Waterloo, the sixth accused, Foday Hassan, knowingly received stolen properties from co-accused Martin Sallu, including a solar LED light valued at Le3,600 and a Lenovo laptop worth Le12,000, amounting to Le15,600.

Lead Prosecutor C.S.P. Ziza informed the court that the case docket had been served on the defence. Lawyers P.S. Vandy and A.B. Bangura appeared for the accused persons. Magistrate Jah ordered that all six men remain in remand custody and adjourned the matter to 1 December 2025.
