The Interim President of the Sierra Leone Association of Communications and Public Relations Professionals (SLACPRP), Sallieu Sesay, has called for stronger collaboration among public relations professionals across Africa, stressing that the future of the profession depends on trust, ethical leadership, innovation, and regional cooperation.

Speaking on the future of public relations on the continent, Sesay said building a stronger PR profession requires much more than effective communication. According to him, it demands a deliberate commitment to fostering public trust, upholding the highest ethical standards, embracing innovation, and promoting authentic African narratives.

He noted that the future of public relations in Africa will not be determined solely by how well professionals communicate, but by how intentionally they strengthen credibility, adapt to emerging trends, and tell Africa’s stories from an African perspective.

Sesay further emphasized that no single country can transform the profession in isolation, adding that meaningful progress will only be achieved through sustained regional collaboration, the adoption of shared professional standards, and continuous knowledge exchange among communications practitioners across the continent.

He said this vision continues to guide the work of the Sierra Leone Association of Communications and Public Relations Professionals as it contributes to building a stronger and more resilient African communications ecosystem.

Describing the journey ahead as a collective responsibility, Sesay urged PR professionals across Africa to deepen partnerships, share best practices, invest in continuous professional development, and support one another in raising the standards of the profession.

His remarks serve as a reminder that the advancement of public relations in Africa is a shared mission that requires unity, collaboration, and a common commitment to shaping a credible, ethical, and globally respected communications industry.
