In a somber ceremony held at the Police Headquarters on Thursday, the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) paid tribute to the late Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Mr Augustine Magnus Kailie. As a mark of respect and in recognition of his dedicated service, the SLP has opened the Book of Condolence.

Expressing profound sorrow, the Inspector General of Police, Mr William Fayia Sellu, revealed that this marks the first occasion in the history of the force where a serving DIG has been lost to death. The passing of DIG Kailie represents a significant loss not only to his family but also to the entire SLP.

IGP Sellu conveyed the deep impact of this loss, emphasizing that it is not just an institutional grief but a personal one, given their long-standing association and collaborative efforts over the years. He highlighted DIG Kailie’s unwavering commitment, discipline, and hardworking nature, underscoring the void his absence leaves within the SLP.

In gratitude, IGP Sellu extended appreciation to sister forces for their solidarity during this difficult time, as they collectively opened the Book of Condolence to commemorate the life and service of Deputy Inspector General Augustine Magnus Kailie. The legacy of his dedication and contributions to the force will be remembered and missed by all.
