Magistrate Momoh Lansana of Bonthe District has granted bail to Sixty years old Traditional FGM Leader, Sowo Sandy, who was arrested and charged with manslaughter following the death of a 21-year-old lady, a day after she had undergone female circumcision.

An autopsy report confirmed that the deceased, Maseray Sei, died from excessive bleeding emanating from the cutting.

“Today Magistrate Momoh Lansana released Sowo Sandy on a bail bond after the prosecution, for the second time, failed to bring forth their witnesses. Her release sparked off celebrations by her colleagues who performed some traditional rites outside the court. The matter was adjourned to Wednesday 27 July.”
