Dr. Sidie Mohamed Tunis, a retired honorable and former Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, has recently arrived in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja, to carry out important parliamentary duties.

As reported by his communications team, Dr. Tunis is scheduled to engage in a series of diplomatic meetings with various organizations during his stay in Abuja.

One of the primary objectives of his visit is to assess the readiness of the ECOWAS Parliament for the upcoming Delocalised Joint Committees meeting. This significant gathering is set to commence on July 25th, 2023, in Monrovia, Liberia. Dr. Tunis will closely examine the Parliament’s preparedness to ensure a successful and productive event.

Furthermore, the distinguished Speaker will have the honor of hosting Rt. Hon. Ntakirumatina Joseph, the Speaker of the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA). Mr. Joseph is expected to arrive on Wednesday, initiating a three-day courtesy visit to the ECOWAS Parliament. This visit aims to foster closer ties and promote regional cooperation between the two legislative bodies.
