The Sierra Leone Standards Bureau, led by Executive Director Dr. John Paul Kaisam, has partnered with the Office of the Inspector General of Police to enhance consumer safety and ensure adherence to quality standards.

During a meeting held at the Inspector General’s office on George Street, Freetown, the two entities discussed the nationwide distribution of advanced standard measuring cups to improve measurement practices, prevent malpractices, and protect consumer interests.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Aiah Edward Samadia, representing Inspector General Fayia Sellu, reaffirmed the police’s commitment to supporting this initiative. Dr. Kaisam highlighted the importance of fostering precision, accuracy, and uniformity in measurement procedures.

The collaboration aims to raise public awareness about standardized measurements and their role in safeguarding consumer rights, with a focus on community outreach and stakeholder engagement.

Discussions also addressed the legal framework for enforcement, transparent financial management, optimized administrative processes, and the technical benefits of the new measuring cups.

Finance Manager Sylvester Kamara emphasized financial transparency, while Human Resource Manager Emmanuel Navo stressed efficient administration.

Metrology Manager Frank Martin explained the scientific rigor of the measuring cups, and Public Relations Officer Solomon Rogers outlined a comprehensive outreach campaign to promote their use.
