A 38 year old laborer, Amadu Kamara, has been remanded in custody following his first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court in Freetown.

Kamara is facing three counts of conspiracy, office breaking, and larceny, linked to the alleged theft of items from the Ministry of Finance.

According to the police charge sheet, the accused allegedly conspired with unknown individuals on May 24, 2026, at the Treasury Building within the Ministry of Finance to commit a felony involving office breaking and stealing.

Prosecutors further alleged that on the same date, Kamara broke into the Information Technology and Communication (ITC) Unit and stole a glass aluminum soundproof sliding window valued at Le60,000, and a double window curtain valued at Le8,000. Bringing the total value of the stolen items to Le68,000.

In a separate incident on May 26, 2026, Kamara is also accused of stealing a swivel armchair valued at Le145,000 from the same premises.

When the charges were read, the accused did not enter a plea, as the matter is currently before the court as a committal proceeding.

The prosecutor, Police Constable 18235 Thoronka K, informed the court that the accused had been served with the case file.

Kamara, who appeared without legal representation, told the court he did not wish to cross-examine witnesses, stating that the matter was “his own doing.”

Magistrate Fornah ordered that a subpoena be issued for the investigating officer and adjourned the matter to June 17, 2026, for further hearing.

The case is part of ongoing investigations into reported thefts at the Ministry of Finance
