Eleven accused persons appeared before High Court Judge Justice Sir Kekura during a High Court sitting in Port Loko on 22 June 2026, facing charges of conspiracy to murder and murder in connection with the death of Thaimu Kamara in Kambia District.

Testifying for the prosecution, police witness Mr Conteh informed the court that on 8 October 2025, senior pathologist Dr Simion Owills Koroma, accompanied by police officers from Kambia, travelled to Dibia Village where the deceased was reportedly buried.

According to the witness, the body of Thaimu Kamara was exhumed in the presence of the police and the medical personnel.

When the body was exhumed, I observed that the hands and feet of Thaimu Kamara were tied with rope. I also saw cracks on the head, hands, feet, and back,” Mr Conteh told the court.

He further stated that Dr Koroma conducted an examination of the body, and photographs were taken as part of the investigation. The photographs were later produced and tendered as exhibits before the court. Mr Conteh said that on 13 October 2025, the case file was forwarded to the State Counsel for the North-West Region for legal advice. On 15 November 2025, the State Counsel instructed investigators to obtain further statements from the accused persons.

The witness testified that between 19 and 20 November 2025, he and Detective Inspector Bangali Bangura obtained additional voluntary statements from the accused persons in Krio separately. The statements were read over and explained to the suspects before being endorsed. The statements were subsequently presented and examined in court.

According to the witness, on 22 November 2025, the State Counsel advised that the accused persons be charged with conspiracy to murder and murder. Charge statements were later obtained on 24 November 2025.

Following the testimony, Justice Sir Kekura adjourned the matter to 25 June 2026 for further hearings.
