Prominent lawyer and opposition figure Ady Macauley has strongly criticized the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) government, accusing it of leading the country into economic hardship and widespread corruption.
In a statement, Macauley condemned what he described as the administration’s failure to fulfill its promises of prosperity and national rebranding. Instead, he argued, Sierra Leone has become the “darkest country in the world” and a “premier narco-state in the sub-region.”
‘’The SLPP Paopa government promised Sierra Leoneans prosperity, what they delivered is a road map to poverty.’’ He stated.
He added that Sierra Leone’s People’s Party (SLPP) government promised to rebrand Sierra Leone, what they succeeded in doing is turning the country into the darkest country in the world and the premier narco-state in the sub-region.
He further slammed the government’s approach to taxation, stating that excessive taxes are driving citizens deeper into poverty rather than addressing the country’s economic challenges. He called for sound economic policies, better resource management, and an end to what he termed “Paopa corruption” as the real solutions to the crisis.
‘’ Sound economic policies, better management of resources, and stemming the gaping wound of Paopa corruption are the solution’’ he concluded.
Ending his remarks Macauley assured Sierra Leoneans that “rescue is on the way,” signaling confidence in an alternative governance approach.
