Man Remanded For Allegedly Stealing Phones And Cash From Central Police Station

On May 1st, 2024, Sahr Komba was apprehended at the Central Police Station for allegedly stealing phones and Cash from the Operations Office.

The accused Sahr Komba was charged on one count charge of Office Breaking and Larceny contrary to Section 26 (1) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused Sahr Komba on the 1st May 2024, at Operation Officer Minor Office, Central Police Station, entered into the office of Inspector Augustine Aiah Manga, Operations Minor and stole 2 Samsung mobile phones A10, Galaxy 12, one manual mobile phone and a cash of nineteen thousand Leones, all to the total value of thirty-one thousand, two hundred Leones (NLe. 31,200), property of Augustine Aiah Manga.

After the hearing, the accused was denied bail, remanded in custody and the matter adjoined to June 3rd 2024.

PC 18235 Thoronka K K is Prosecuting the matter.

I am just thinking how possible a thief can breakthrough at the central prison to steal? Is this really a story or I am dreaming? If it's true, this is an insider not a random thief. He works there and knows where things are kept. Thieves are afraid of police but the very thief is not, how possible that this thief do not think that he is entering a very disciplined and restricted zone except that the thief has some psychological issues. I still find this story hard to believe

Really? This type of news should not be published, because it triggers international criminals to enter the country and cause dangerous crimes. Knowing that the policing system is reckless and lacking the basic security needed for their own life and the lives of the citizens and their properties is a shame and very dangerous to be published. I think the policing system of Sierra Leone needs to be reform in a way the citizens will develop and grow confidence that they are safe inside their own land, and feeling not intimidated, disrespectful, discriminate of gender, tribal or other means but working with the police officers for the safety of the whole country. Remember if your house is not in order strangers will enter your home and pick up anything valuable and walk away with it ✅✌🏽
