In a recent development at Pademba Road Court No. 3 in Freetown, three individuals—Moses Kargbo, Adikalie Sesay, and Mariatu Koroma—appeared before Magistrate Santigie Bangura facing multiple charges of conspiracy, larceny, and receiving stolen goods.

According to the details presented in court, the alleged incident occurred on November 5th, 2023, at Deensie Drive, Regent Village, in the Mountain Rural District of the Western Area in Freetown. The accused individuals reportedly conspired with others unknown to commit the crimes in question.

The charges specify that Kargbo and Sesay, on the aforementioned date and location, allegedly stole various items including gallons of honey and food coolers belonging to Mariama Sajor Cheung. Additionally, Koroma, the third accused person, is charged with receiving one of the stolen food coolers, knowing it was unlawfully obtained.

During the court proceedings, Kargbo and Sesay pleaded guilty to the charges, while Koroma pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor requested a brief adjournment to summon the exhibit clerk.

In defense of Koroma, Counsel F. Lansana applied for bail, asserting her status as a Sierra Leonean resident within the jurisdiction. Lansana highlighted that Koroma has reliable sureties prepared to stand as guarantors, vowing she will not interfere with prosecution witnesses or abscond from bail. The bail application was made under Section 79(2) and (3) of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965.

Magistrate Bangura granted bail to Koroma in the amount of five thousand Leones, requiring two sureties to provide valid identity cards demonstrating their Freetown address.

The approval of bail was to be overseen by the Bench, and the matter was adjourned to November 24th, 2023, for the submission of exhibits.Deputy Superintendent of Police Saio Conteh was designated to prosecute the case.
