The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has instituted a Circular Court at Tongo Fields, Lower Bambara Chiefdom In Kenema District on 11 April 2023.
The Master and Registrar of the Judiciary of Sierra Leone, Elin Thomas Archibald said the action to open a Circuit Court in Tongo Fields, was in fulfillment of the promise made by the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Desmond Babatunde Edwards. Upon his assumption as the Chief Justice of the Republic of Sierra Leone, he assured the people of this country that he would take justice to the doorsteps of Sierra Leoneans.
In his welcome address to the delegation, the Section Chief of Buima Section, Chief Tejan Mambu commended the judiciary and the central government for such an adventure, as this is the right time to get something they have been yarning for.
He added that to a larger extent, justice was now visible to the people of Lower Bambara Chiefdom, and therefore called on his people to fully support the Justice system as he believed in the professionalism of members of the delegation.
The Local Unit Commander, Tongo Division Chief Superintendent Tucker, Speaking on behalf of the Police Regional Commander East, expressed his profound gratitude to the Judiciary, for making justice be assessed by all and at different levels.
He said that the problems attached to moving cases from Tongo to Kenema at different intervals are now over which also has served as a reduction of burden on both investigators, complainants, and convicts respectively.
His Lordship Magistrate Abdul Carew, the Magistrate of the court, assured the people of Lower Bambara Chiefdom of their safety, and a feeling of sustainable peace.
He added that those who want to accept peace will enjoy peace, but those who might tend to be lawbreakers, will not have a place in the community as they will face the full force of the laws of Sierra Leone.
