On January 9, 2025, the Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Madam Nabeela Farida Tunis, led a delegation to the Sierra Leone Railway Museum.

This visit underscored the Ministry’s strong commitment to preserving Sierra Leone’s artifacts and heritage.

Minister Tunis emphasized the importance of safeguarding these historic treasures for future generations, highlighting their role as key elements of the country’s cultural and historical identity.

Reflecting on her experience, she stated, “It provided an insightful look into the technology that once powered Sierra Leone’s industrial sector, offering a poignant reminder of the ingenuity and dynamism of the country’s forebears.”

The visit reinforced the need to protect and preserve the Railway Museum and other national heritage symbols, ensuring they are passed down to future generations.

The delegation, led by Minister Tunis, included Deputy Minister Kadijatu Grace Kamara, Deputy Secretary Sahr Philip Morsay, Director of Culture, Creativity, and Innovation Foday Jalloh, and Administrative Manager of the Monuments and Relics Commission Ann-Marie Kamara. Staff from the Ministry and its sub-vented agencies were also present.
