The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has wrapped up an intensive training program aimed at enhancing the capabilities of traffic personnel in the Western Area.

The program, titled “Efficient Traffic Management: Strategies for Modern Urban Mobility,” concluded on Saturday, January 25, 2025, with a closing ceremony at the Senior Officers Mess in Kingtom.

Over 300 traffic officers participated in the initiative, which was spearheaded by the SLP’s Training Directorate under the leadership of Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Sahr Y. Senesi.

The training covered key aspects of modern traffic management, including traffic laws, ethical policing, highway codes, crash scene management, and Central Business District operations.

Officers also received guidance on investigation techniques, report writing, and preserving evidence, with a focus on balancing professionalism and human rights in their duties.

Speaking at the closing ceremony, AIG Sahr Y. Senesi emphasized the importance of the program in addressing contemporary traffic challenges in urban areas. He commended participants for their dedication and stressed that the skills acquired would significantly improve road safety and reduce congestion.

The initiative is part of the SLP’s broader strategy to modernize traffic management and foster safer, more efficient road systems nationwide.

Plans are underway to extend similar training sessions to other regions, ensuring that traffic officers across Sierra Leone are equally equipped to handle the complexities of urban mobility.
