Ibrahim Barrie, a 21-year-old pupil, and Sao Fefegulah, a 30-year-old farmer, appeared before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on four charges: conspiracy to commit a felony, housebreaking and larceny, receiving stolen goods, and fraudulent conversion.
The charges relate to an incident on August 25th, 2023, in Baoma Oil Mill Village, Kandu Leppiama Chiefdom of Kenema District.
It is alleged that the accused conspired to defraud Alusine Mohamed Conteh of a 4.15% diamond valued at NLe477,250. Additionally, they are accused of breaking into the dwelling house of Moses Brima Conteh and stealing a 4.15% diamond, an 86% diamond, a 73% diamond, and a 1.55% diamond, all valued at NLe511,589 and belonging to Alusine Mohamed Conteh.
Sao Fefegulah is also accused of receiving a 4.15% diamond valued at NLe477,250 from Ibrahim Barrie, knowing it to be stolen, and fraudulently converting the diamond for his own use or benefit.
Magistrate Sahr Kekura has committed the matter to the High Court for further trial, and both accused have been remanded in custody.
