The four-day retreat brought together staff from Kambia and Pujehun districts and was funded by WESOFOD-SL’s social enterprise, Universal Design Construction Company (UDC).
It provided a platform for staff to review 2025 performance, reflect on achievements and challenges, strengthen internal systems, and plan strategically for the coming year. Participants also shared experiences, built professional relationships, and discussed solutions to organizational challenges.
Activities included presentations on project progress, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL), finance updates, and reports on WESOFOD-SL’s social enterprises, including UDC, Bright Future Preschool, and Ability Catering Service. Staff engagement and organizational learning sessions were held, and the retreat concluded with recreational activities, awards, and a celebration of staff contributions.
Speaking on the first day, Executive Director Mr. Joseph Alieu Kamara, who also serves as President of the Sierra Leone Union on Disability Issues (SLUDI), highlighted WESOFOD-SL’s mission to improve the lives of persons with disabilities through inclusive education, skills training, enterprise development, advocacy, and social protection initiatives. He commended staff for their dedication and encouraged continued high performance.
Programs Officer Mr. Thomas KJ Lebbie noted that WESOFOD-SL delivered 11 projects in 2025 across Kambia and Pujehun districts, emphasizing the organization’s impact through inclusive governance, education, health, social protection, livelihoods, and climate justice.
