The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) announced the arrest of Juliet Kamara, the 38-year-old wife of infamous drug lord Abdul Kamara, also known as “Bigitel.”
The arrest, which was widely applauded by the public, took place in the Mamaba Ridge area of Moyiba Community, Freetown’s East End. According to the SLP’s Facebook page, the Harbour Division Police conducted a raid on Juliet Kamara’s residence, seizing a quantity of illegal drugs.
Authorities believe Juliet Kamara played a significant role in her husband’s criminal enterprise. She is reported to have operated a lavish nightclub complex complete with swimming pools, a restaurant, guesthouses, and “ghettos” – hidden drug dens – all located within a large, heavily secured estate.
The SLP further revealed that acting on gathered intelligence, they arrested two of Juliet Kamara’s alleged sales agents, Mariatu Koroma and Fatmata Bangura. Notably, both women were said to be disguised in Islamic abaya garments during their apprehension.
Abdul Kamara, alias “Bigitel,” is currently incarcerated at the Pademba Road Correctional Centre facing charges related to numerous drug offenses. This recent arrest signifies a significant step in dismantling his criminal network.
This is the best decision off late. The people selling this drugs must be apprehended and brought to justice. Our youth are the leaders of today. How can the government of our country fold their arms and pretend as if nothing is happening. Our youth populace is gradually decreasing by the day. This menace call kush is a narcotic drug, and it very harmful and injurious to one’s health and a person total well-being. Drastic measures need to be taken against anyone who fall victim. Mr President, judiciary, police force, army, community stakeholders and everyone has a role to play in eradicating the availability of this menace call kush for the betterment and development of our beloved country Sierra Leone.
