A heavy windstorm on Monday, 10th February 2026, unroofed two classrooms at Jefferson Baptist Primary School in Taiama Town, Kori Chiefdom, leaving dozens of pupils exposed to harsh weather conditions.
Head Teacher Thomas N. Williams said the incident occurred around 2:00 p.m. while pupils were in class. “The sudden windstorm ripped off the roofs, forcing teaching activities to come to an immediate halt,” he said.
Williams described the situation as very unfortunate, noting that both pupils and teachers are now exposed to the hot sun during the current dry season, which has seriously disrupted the teaching and learning process.
He appealed to the general public, government authorities, and humanitarian organizations for urgent support to restore the classrooms and ensure a safe learning environment for the children.
No injuries have been reported so far, but school authorities warn that learning will remain difficult until immediate intervention is made.
