A woman has raised concerns on social media after her mother’s Air Sierra Leone flight to Lagos, Nigeria, was cancelled at Freetown International Airport.

According to the woman, the ticket was confirmed at the airline’s Freetown office prior to departure, and everything appeared to be in order. However, upon arrival at the airport, she was informed that Air Sierra Leone had ceased flights to Nigeria until January.

How is it possible for an airline and its staff to miss such important information? How do you sell a ticket, confirm it in the office, and then suddenly act like you didn’t know?” she asked.

She added that the decision is not just an inconvenience but also disrespectful, inconsiderate, and financially damaging, as her mother had a connecting flight from Lagos to Abuja on the same day.

The woman said she was told to call for a refund, prompting further questions:

All we’re being told is to ‘call for a refund.’ So, who is refunding the missed flight from Lagos to Abuja? Who is refunding the stress, the time wasted, and the disappointment? This is exactly why people hesitate to trust services in Sierra Leone. We love our country, but honestly, situations like this make it so hard.”
