As the fight against the dangerous substance Kush intensifies across the country, the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) in Kambia arrested two women in possession of a large quantity of suspected cannabis sativa.

In intensifying the actions triggered by President Bio in his speech that triggered a state of emergency on elicit drugs, several raids and surveillances have been pinched right across the country by the Sierra Leone Police to stop the spread of Kush on youths.

Kush in Sierra Leone is quite different; it is a mixture of cannabis, fentanyl, tramadol, formaldehyde and – according to some – ground down human bones.

As said by Abdul Sheku Kargbo, head of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, “The drug is an amalgamation of the various chemicals and plants that mimic the natural (cannabinoid) THC found in cannabis. The active ingredient’s concentration can be “exponentially increased,” ratcheting up potency

The Police in their report on their platform stated that the fight against harmful drugs continues with surveillance and raids on KUSH, CANNABIS SATIVA, and TRAMADOL by joint Security Forces deployed in Kambia District.

On Sunday, 14th April 2024, the Operations Team carried out a night operation and arrested AMINATA CONTEH of Masama Road and ISATU SESAY of Labiska, Masama Road, Kambia (II) with a huge quantum of dried leaves reasonably suspected of being CANNABIS SATIVA.

Suspects and exhibits are in police custody for further investigations.
