A young girl in Mattru Jong was brutally assaulted by her aunt before school hours, leaving her with visible injuries.

The incident was reported to local authorities by a concerned member of a mothers’ club, who immediately took the child to the Family Support Unit (FSU) at the Mattru Jong Police Station.

The case was promptly brought to the attention of the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs through the One-Stop Center for Action. The child was hospitalized and treated for her injuries, while the perpetrator was charged with assault.

After appearing before Magistrate Mohmoh Lansana at the Mattru Jong Court, the aunt pleaded guilty to the charges and was detained at the local female correctional center.

The Ministry of Gender and Children’s Affairs intervened to ensure the child’s safety and successfully reunited her with her biological parents.
