A 25-year-old pupil, Mohamed Koroma, has made his first court appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah of Pademba Road Court No. 2 on charges of larceny and malicious damage.

Koroma faces two counts: larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916, and malicious damage, contrary to Section 51 of the Malicious Damage Act of 1861.

According to the particulars of the offence, the incident occurred on Tuesday, 14th October 2025, at Dadley Street, Regent, in the Western Area of Freetown. Koroma is alleged to have stolen several electrical cables belonging to Patrick Dauda Koroma, valued at Le 38,000 in total.

The stolen properties reportedly include:

Four rolls of 2.5mm electrical cable, each valued at Le 3,500

Six rolls of 1.5mm electrical cable, each valued at Le 2,500

Two rolls of 4mm electrical cable, each valued at Le 4,500

In the second count, Koroma is accused of maliciously damaging the same items, collectively valued at Le 38,000.

When the charges were read and explained to him, the accused pleaded not guilty.

Prosecutor Sergeant 3379 Ballay requested a short adjournment to enable the prosecution to present its first witness. The court noted that the accused was unrepresented by legal counsel during the hearing.

Magistrate Fornah subsequently issued a subpoena for the absent prosecution witnesses and remanded the accused to the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown pending further proceedings.

The matter was adjourned to 10th November 2025 for continuation.
