Mohamed Kamara made his final appearance before Justice Monfred of the High court no.2 in Freetown on a three-count indictment of conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravation, robbery with aggravation and wounding with intent.
Justice Monfred in his summoning up to the jurors summarized and explained the evidence made by the prosecution against the accused person in rendering a fair judgement of the matter.
According to the charge sheet the accused person Mohamed Kamara is before the court on a 3-count indictment, the statement of offence on count 1 the accused is charged with the offence of conspiracy to commit robbery with aggravation and its particulars state that the accused on the 25th May 2020 at Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone conspired together with other persons unknown to commit a felony to wit robbery with aggravation.
On count 2 of the statement of the offence of robbery with aggravation contrary to section 23 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916 as repealed and replaced by section 2 of the imperial statues (Criminal Law) Adoption (Amendment) Act No16 of (Criminal Law) Adoption (Amendment) Act No16 of 1971, its particulars further states that the accused person on the 26th May 2020 at Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, being armed with a gun robbed Randolf John of one blue bag valued at 70,000le, one leather purse valued 40,000, one driver’s license valued at Four Hundred thousand Leones, assorted medicines valued at one hundred and twenty thousand Leones, one vehicle key valued at 5 Million Leones, One united bank of Africa identification card valued one hundred thousand Leones with a Cheque face value of sixty million Leones.
One Rokel Commercial Bank Cheque with a face value of forty-six million Leones, one Sierra Leone commercial bank Cheque with a face value of sixty million Leones, one united bank of Africa Cheque with a face value of thirteen million five hundred Leones, one Sierra Leone commercial bank Cheque with a face value of one hundred and twenty million Leones, cash sum of one million two hundred and fifty thousand Leones, cash sum of ten thousand two hundred United States dollars equivalent to the sum of one hundred and Seven million Leones, all to the total value of Four Hundred and thirty-one million five hundred and eighty thousand Leones (431,580,000) property of the said Randolf John.
Jurors retired at 3:00 pm with a verdict on all counts indictment respectively, the accused was found guilty by the jurors on all count indictment.
Plea mitigation was made for and on behalf of the accused person by defence counsel for the accused R.S Bangura stating that the accused is a 23-year-old young man who has his whole career ahead of him and if given a chance at life again will be an Ambassador of peace and will be a contributing factor to society.
The accused was sentenced accordingly by Justice Monfred Sesay for count one he was sentenced to 5 years, count two 25 years and count 3 to 10 years imprisonment.
