The Pujehun Radical Inclusion Movement has extended invitations to key community stakeholders to participate in an official ceremony welcoming 47 former prisoners back into their respective communities.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, September 14, 2024, at the Pujehun District Council Hall, will be presided over by Chief Minister Dr. David Moinina Sengeh. The reintegration ceremony is set to begin at 11:00 AM.

This event follows the recent release of the 47 individuals from the Pujehun Correctional Center, facilitated by Dr. Sengeh, who personally paid their fines on August 29, 2024. The initiative is part of President Julius Maada Bio’s “Big-5” agenda, focusing on Justice Sector Reform. Dr. Sengeh, a native of Pujehun and a strong advocate of President Bio’s vision, emphasizes that individuals who were imprisoned due to their inability to pay fines should be given the opportunity to contribute to national development.

Since their release, the 47 individuals have been undergoing counseling and receiving additional support to facilitate their return as purposeful citizens. The official reintegration event will take place in the presence of their families and community members, marking a significant step in their transition back into society.

In a related development, Dr. Sengeh will also hand over three tricycles to the Clean Pujehun Development Organization during the same event. The donation is part of his ongoing commitment to youth empowerment and economic development in the region. The tricycles, commonly known as “Kekehs,” will be used to generate jobs and support the organization’s efforts to sustain a cleaner and more developed Pujehun.

This dual initiative underscores Dr. Sengeh’s support for President Bio’s human capital development strategy and his dedication to improving the lives of people in Pujehun and beyond.
